As we focus on the promise of the Father, the Holy Ghost, which came on the day of Pentecost, let us be mindful of why the Spirit came. The disciples were told in part of Jesus' last instructions to tarry in Jerusalem until they were endued with power from on high, they waited 10 days after Jesus' ascension until the promise of power was fulfilled. The 1st century church was filled with power on the day of Pentecost, a supernatural ability to carry out the work that Jesus began to do and teach, and they were instructed to preach the Gospel to all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and the Holy Ghost. They were promised that the same works that He had done, they would do, because He was going to send them the power to get it done. Paul said that promise was not only unto the audience He was directly speaking to but us as well through their children, their grandchildren, and those who are far off, everyone who was called. It is in that place of fulfillment of promise in each of us that we can truly be, "Meat for the Master's Use," be filled with His Spirit, God Speed.
